”I Don’t Dance”: A Queer Reading of Disney’s High School Musical
Despite its apparent heterocentrism, Disney’s High School Musical warrants a queer reading due to the gendered dichotomy between sports culture, which is portrayed as traditionally ‘masculine,’ and musical theatre, which is associated with stylized effeminacy, camp culture, and homosexuality.
