Heroin Addiction and Race in Film

The relationship between race and heroin use in films made after 2000 is complex and, at times, offensive. Films like Requiem for a Dream and Things We Lost in the Fire portray people of color in the midst of a severe addiction to heroin. 6 Balloons addresses whiteness in relation to heroin addiction in an entirely different way.
